American Military Struck a 'Large Facility' in Venezuela, Trump Claimed Lacking Providing Specifics.

Former President Trump has asserted that US military assets targeted a "major facility" in Venezuela last week. But, the ex-leader did not specify the precise purpose or site of the target, and officials have issued no additional comment from his administration.

Vague Remarks Made During a Talk Show

"US forces just knocked out – I don't know if you heard – they have a large facility, where the vessels come from. Recently, we destroyed it. So we hit them with significant force," Trump allegedly informed Republican donor and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Potential Implications of a Verified Attack

If a US military action is verified, it would constitute the first ground target hit since the US Department of Defense initiated a buildup of American strike forces in the region to halt narco-trafficking operations that the former administration asserts operate under the direction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

The original mission of the military buildup has evolved into a blockade aimed at hindering the country's oil exports.

Social Media Video and Official Claims

Trump has for some time stated that American military units are poised to expand the military campaign by hitting objectives inside Venezuela, a move that would theoretically require legislative approval.

Online video posted on social media on 24 December appeared to show an explosion said to be from an industrial zone in a Venezuelan state. Yet, the video or the facility has not been independently verified.

An administration official allegedly informed a news network that the president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Response and Current Military Situation

The Maduro government has remained silent on the event Trump referenced. Additionally, there have been no verified accounts from Venezuela concerning it.

The presence of US military in the area – a posture some have termed a maritime "quarantine" – marks the broadest maritime enforcement action of his time in office.

Administration officials have avoided from describing the operation as a full blockade, but have stated that approximately 15,000 personnel are stationed across the Caribbean and the Gulf, including a aircraft carrier group, F-35 aircraft, and law enforcement vessels to implement current economic sanctions.
